Charity ‘Drag Race’ report
A couple of weeks back, I promised to do something daft on this blog, and now I have. The Bristol charity drag race took place on a mind-numbingly cold and rainy English Summer’s day last Sunday, and I got thoroughly soaked! Which is all part of the fun, of course. We had a grand day out - a few friends came along to have a laugh at us, and we warmed up by squeezing seven people into a family car for a ‘picnic’. A few pictures of the main event follow, for posterity…
The electronic begging bowl is still open, for those of you who said you’d pay up when you saw the photographic evidence, and for anyone else who’d like to donate to a worthy cause.
First off, a word about the costume. In the grand tradition of software design, the requirements document (in this case the cover illustration for ‘Ajax in Action’) ended up being interpreted rather loosely. The hat in particular was quite a challenge, and in the end, our best attempt didn’t quite stand up to expectations.
Here we are at the starting line, where we were given a very serious pep talk. I’m number 13, on the right.
And they’re off! This is the approach to the first inflatable letterbox, at which point the hat and pigtails came off and hung round my neck for the rest of the course.
