Dave Crane ::: Sunwheel Technologies ::: Computing

General

I've been programming computers since I was 14 years old, starting out with Basic on a BBC Micro (early descendant of the modern ARM processors that power most mobile phones these days). Nowadays I work with Java, Groovy, JavaScript and sometimes Python, developing applications for the web.

I take part in the Stroud Bar Camp local meetings.

Published work

2005-2008
In 1994 I started to keep a personal wiki of all the problems that I came across while building a very large javascript application. I tried unsuccessfully to turn this into a couple of publishable articles, and on a whim, I submitted it as a book proposal to Manning publications. Five years on I've been involved with three books about Ajax for Manning, and a shorter book for Apress.
2005-2009
I also wrote and delivered an Ajax training course for Skillsmatter that I've personally taught over a dozen times, in the UK and Europe.
